ABOUT FLOORTJE

Floortje Zonneveld is a visual artist working with time-based, community-driven art projects. Her practice has been rooted in rural Nordic island communities; spanning Norway (Træna, Tromsø), the Faroe Islands, Greenland, Iceland, and Svalbard. Her participatory projects are grounded in collaboration, where local inhabitants re-explore their environments together with her, transforming shared experiences into artistic expressions that invite public ownership and engagement. Her work centers around human interaction, sculptural space, movement, time, and storytelling. With a Master of Arts in European Media and a certification as an Arctic Nature Guide (Svalbard), Floortje is passionate about uncovering local narratives that connect island communities across the North Atlantic and beyond.

She aims to strengthen local identities through co-creation while combining elements of art, nature, science, and interaction. Her work is designed to spark curiosity and make local (often implicit) knowledge visible and accessible, engaging diverse audiences across schools, universities, municipalities, museums, tourism sectors, and cultural organizations.
